It is hard to believe Rashard Fant was only a redshirt sophomore last year, but we got to talk with him about stepping up into a leadership role in the new defense next season. http://http://hoosierhuddle.com/hoosier-blog/hoosiers-cb-rashard-fant-embraces-leadership-role/2016/4/26

my biggest complaint about our DBs (fant included) is the lack of ball awareness on deep balls.  I think we will see improved play this year with experience.

Who do you guys see starting opposite Fant?  Green?

I would expect Tyler Green to start opposite of Fant. He has good size and played really well this spring to claim that spot.

Yeah, I'd go Tyler Green as the second starter...the coaches have spoken glowingly about his development and his size/length would help IU matchup with bigger targets.

Guessing anything beyond that is just throwing darts and these spots will be very fluid but I think Wesley Green, Arthur Jones, Leon Thornton and Jameel Cook are guys to keep an eye on. A'Shon Riggins could factor in when he arrives on campus but I'm guessing he'll redshirt. There's a lot of options but anything beyond Fant is still very unproven.

Hoosierwhodey, I was very disappointed about their ball skills but watching coach Joseph on a video this Spring I was disappointed to hear they didn't work on ball skills in the past.  He was saying with coach Allen they really emphasized ball skills.  As a former high school coach that coached the secondary most years; I don't understand not teaching ball skills especially deep ball skills.  I expect that with the focus on ball skills this year we will see a big improvement this year.

IU has good depth at all positions and it should bring out outstanding play during the games.  Under Coach Wilson this is the first year that I can be excited about the players on defense.  I have been excited going into last season because it was the second year under coach Knorr's defense.  This year I am excited about the players and our DC as he brings excitement and intensity to the defense.  He will coach from the sideline so he will have real input into the intensity and excitement of defensive players.
